Our partner organization Kuska has developed an educational sponsoring formula through which a donor can contribute toward the educational expenses of one or more children for a minimum period of 12 months.

Beneficiaries

All children at Los Gorriones can benefit from this sponsoring, including those who are disabled. Contributing to education is of utmost importance. A quality education is a key to a better life, both on a professional and intellectual level.

Education for all

All able children are enrolled in private schools in Ayacucho. The level of a local private school equals that of a public school in Europe, hence the preference for a private school. If possible, the disabled children are enrolled too. With the help of the partner organisation Ayacucho Kinderen, the school-going children benefit from homework assistance. For those children who are too disabled for school, paid professionals provide physiotherapy and speech therapy at Los Gorriones. 

Cost

The sponsor programme is based on the annual cost of education: enrollment at a local private school, transportation to and from school, books and school supplies, and a uniform (all Peruvian school children wear a uniform). The total cost is 600$ per child per year. The donor is asked to commit for one year. Automatic monthly payments of 50$ each are proposed but a single payment covering 12 months is possible as well. Payments can be made by bank transfer, credit card or Paypal.

The donor

The donor contributes toward the educational expenses of one or more of the children for a minimum period of 12 months. After deciding together with us which child would be supported, the donor receives an information sheet with the child’s personal details and a photo.

Correspondance

We will keep the donor updated by E-mail and, four times per year, by post. The donor is welcome to correspond with us by E-mail (donasian_losgorriones@hotmail.com).  They can also send letters by post as well as gifts, provided they are reasonable.

Visiting the child and Los Gorriones

The doors are always wide open for visitors. A simple advance notice is sufficient.

Though visits are welcomed, is it however not possible for a donor to take “their” child on a trip or for the child to go to their home. All children are legally in the care of Los Gorriones and must stay there. The donor is not a substitute parent. Their role, however important, is limited to educational support.

How to become a sponsor

Members ($ 20 per month)

By signing up as a member you would become part of the friend’s circle of Los Gorriones and support its activities in general. The friend’s circle is also a way to bring together the donors and better coordinate their support. Members receive a two-monthly electronic newsletter with the latest news from Ayacucho.

Members are asked to commit to a donation of $ 20 per month for a minimum duration of one year. Payments can be made automatically by bank transfer, credit card or Paypal.
