Who are we
La casa Los Gorriones was founded on
March 5th, 2002 by Gil and Chantal...This orphanage welcomes children aged 0 to 18 in Ayacucho, the poorest region in
Peru. La Casa Hogar Los Gorriones is registered and recognized by the Peruvan government. We also work in close collaboration with the familly judge, social services and adoption services. 24 children are currently living at Los Gorriones. Daddy Gil, mommy Chantal and the entire team believe in the importance of recreating a family environment. Love, support and listening are our priorities.

Who are we helping
La casa welcomes children aged 0 to 18 who are in need. Many of them have severe physical and mental illness. Other orphanages will not assume responsabilities for children with special needs that require unique services and medications, therefore demanding more time and more expenses.
In many cases, the fact that the parents or immediate family have abandoned their child is not recognized. For exemples, the parents do not wish to have their child adopted by a tier party but neither can they afford to care for him. Los Gorriones will then assume the responsability of the child while keeping close link with the family, who can visit la casa as often as they wish to.
In other instances, the family Judge recognizes that the child is abandoned. The child is then under the responsability of Los Gorriones and placed on the national adoption list.
In the most horrifying cases, the children are simple left to themselves on the street, often under terrible conditions.
The majority of children arriving at the orphenage are affected by sever malnutrition, trauma and sickness and bare knowledge of personal hygiene. Direct consequences of the poverty in which they live. | |

Children's Welcoming
The entry of children does not depend of any criteria and preferences. It's a work coordination between the family court and the parents or member of the family. The social assistance evaluation determines the degree of poverty and abandon of the children. Once the child is accepted, an educational and supporting plan is developted by Los Gorriones, according to his age,and mental and physical health. In the case of a special needs child, necessary mesures are taken with professional aid to give the child all the chances to benefit of a normal life. The child evolution will benefit from continious evaluations. In the case of a complete abandon of the child by the parents and family, the child's name will then be place on the national adoption list of the adoption office. Los Gorriones can then anticipate adoption demand. These demands are seriously considered by respecting the adoption laws and rules in effect. In coordination with the adoption office, we make sure the process is made in the best interests of the child and that he will continue his normal psychological, academic and social growing process. A following is made after the adoption and all necessary actions would be taken if unfavorable situations occur.

Family Vision
Los Gorriones priority is to offer a family spirit in the orphanage. We promote a family environment based on respect, listening, responsability and solidarity by seeing after each child self-esteem and personality development.

Health Care
Every child is followed by a professional doctor and receive all health cares needed, physical and psychological. Several children at la casa suffer from severe physical and mental handicaps and are daily stimulated by appropriate exercices. A good nutrition is crucial to a well development of these kids who had almost all suffer of malnutrition. At la casa Los Gorriones, a cook prepares daily three (3) good meals for the whole family! | |

Education
With the Education Sponsorship Program, each child (physicaly capable of moving) is registered to a private school and receive adequate education. For physicaly restreined and special needs children, educative activities and support are given at the orphenage by professionals with the help of volunteers and the team of Los Gorriones.
